Timothy Eckert
Bass
Bassist Timothy Eckert enjoys a diverse career in Los Angeles where
he performs as a member of the Los Angeles Opera and Long Beach Symphony
orchestras. Other ensembles with which he has performed include the
Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Pasadena
Symphony. As a chamber musician Tim performs with the Camerata Pacifica
and on the Jacaranda series in Santa Monica. Additionally he has appeared
on LACMAs Sundays Live, UCLAs Bruman Series, the Idywilld
Chamber Music Festival and Grand Performances. He is also active in
the recording industry and has appeared live or in studio with a diverse
array of artists such as Eric Clapton, Madonna, Frederica von Stade,
Bjork and Alanis Morrisette. In addition to his performing activities,
Tim teaches at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music as well as maintaining
a private studio. Also active as a composer, Tims music has appeared
in a variety of programs on networks such as Bravo, the History Channel,
National Geographic, the Sci-Fi Channel and Discovery.
Tim holds a Masters degree from Indiana University, where he was awarded
the prestigious Performers Certificate, and was part of the Advanced
Studies program at USC. In 1993 he traveled to Italy to be part of renowned
bassist Franco Petracchis master class at the Accademia Chigiana
in Siena, where he was awarded the Diploma di Merito, and at the Sermoneta
Corsi. He has also attended the Music Academy of the West and Western
Michigan University, where he served as assistant principal bass of
the Kalamazoo Symphony.
Tim has performed extensively at the Aspen Music Festival, where he
was twice awarded fellowships, and at the Spoleto Festival, Italy, where
he served as principal bass of the Spoleto Opera.
His principal teachers include Tom Knific, Bruce Bransby, Franco Petracchi,
Eugene Levinson and Paul Ellison.
