Camerata Pacifica's SpeakEasys are informal, open format discussion events. September's SpeakEasy, curated by Andrea Moore, is “The Marimba in Good Company.” You may remember the wonderful Ji Hye Jung — an amazing percussionist, marimbist and just a charming addition to the Camerata. Andrea will host Ji Hye, Catherine Leonard and Adrian Spence. There’ll be talk about the brand new piece from Bright Sheng commissioned for Catherine and Ji Hye (to be premiered 2 nights later). Ji Hye has arranged the A Major Flute Sonata — how did she get from a 10-finger keyboard part to a 4-mallet marimba part? And, there’s a rumor that Andrea and Ji Hye might perform Reich’s Nagoya Marimbas.
