A Brief History Of Everything Marimba:
With its regular appearance on concert stages as a chamber
and solo instrument, the marimba has come into its own as
a mainstay of the contemporary art music repertoire. How
and when did this happen? What are the origins of this instrument,
and how did it become so thoroughly Westernized? Are there
performers whose championing of the instrument has made
a serious impact? Which composers have written most extensively
and successfully for marimba?
